Date:24/03/2015 20:00 Ages: Price:150 AED Type:Piano Recital Location:Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Join us for an evening with outstanding pianist Jan Lisiecki, performing for the first time in Abu Dhabi. Recognised for his poetic and mature playing, and aged just 19, award-winning Jan Lisiecki is one of the most sought-after young pianists in the world. He is renowned especially for his interpretation of the Chopin Études, among the most enduring and defining of the piano repertoire. Intense, passionate, lively and emotional, they require dazzling technique. The repertoire he has chosen for the Festival ranges from Bach to Mendelssohn to Grieg, and also includes the complete Chopin 12 Études Op. 10.
“The programme I have put together is meant to display what is possible on the piano, highlight how the instrument has progressed and evolved, and of course, give joy to the audience. Bach is a composer who is truly important in my life. I consider him to be a founding pillar of classical keyboard music, as we know it today, and therefore I always try to include his music in my recital programme. Chopin’s music is an ideal fit for the instrument; it lets us sing, tell stories and convey intimate emotions. I am happy to share the Chopin Études Op. 10 at the Festival. These pieces are not commonly performed together and, while technically challenging, they offer the audience a journey through vastly different emotions, while simultaneously telling one over-arching story.” Jan Lisiecki
